Home A Cat

Please browse through our Gallery of cats in need of new homes.   All cats and kittens we home are health checked by vets and any essential treatment is carried out before they come to you. They also have flea and worming treatments carried out.

In addition, adult cats:

  • Are neutered
  • Have microchips fitted, to improve identification if they become lost
  • Are vaccinated by selected local vets
  • Cats over ten qualify for the Golden Oldies Scheme (see News)

We try to learn as much about each cat we re-home as we can, so we can find each cat its perfect home.  If you’d like to home a cat, call 08453 714203 and we’ll sort out a Home Check, so we can make the right match for you and the cat. We home cats in postcodes EX31-EX37 and EX39, east of the River Torridge.  If you live in postcodes EX21, 22, 38 or 39 (west of the River Torridge) and would like to home a cat, please contact the Holsworthy and Bideford branch (www.holsworthycats.org/homeACat.html).

How to get a cat

If you have thought carefully about adopting a cat and now feel ready to give one of our cats a caring home, it’s time to take the next step.

Step 1

Have a look at the cats on this “home a cat” section of our website.

Step 2

Give our homing officer a ring on 08453 714203 they will then arrange for a home visit to be carried out.

Step 3

We carry out a home visit to ensure that we find a cat that fits your circumstances, not every cat will suit your specific environment.  The home visit also gives you a chance to discuss the ins and outs of homing a cats protection cat.

Step 4

View the cat and ask the fosterer any questions you may have.

Step 5

If you have found a suitable cat that fits your circumstances, we can then arrange a collection day.

Step 6

Collection day, you can collect kitty.  Given that our cat care costs can be in excess of £150 per cat, we do ask for a small donation, which enables the charity to help even more cats.

Step 7

Once your new addition has settled in, we would love to receive a picture and a few words to let us know how they are doing in their new home, you can send this via email at barnstaplecats@hotmail.co.uk. We will then post them onto the “Success Stories” page of our website.
